one last week in the fraser

I saw the first Atantic come out of the Fraser almost 10 years ago. Seen
the odd one since then. None this year though.

I heard something about the Seymour river and a guy who caught two of them
in an afternoon. Guess it really makes the exotic fish list.

All DFO needs is the head. There's no way I'm gonna give them a
beautiful 20 lb Atlantic red meat salmon when its just gonna get thrown
out and wasted. Atlantic taste wonderful. Much like Red Spring.
I'll give them the head, they can get all the tests, info, and anything
else they need from that. And if they give me any trouble, I'll tell
them a bear got the rest of it.

Could someone tell me of all rivers they know of where Atlantic salmon are
known to have been caught?
I'm also looking for specific holes to catch them. I'm doing a report
on salmon farming and I think knowing where to recreationally catch escaped
atlantics would really hammer home the point.

its all by chance, but the northern west coast streams of Van Island seems
to be where a lot of them have been caught

The Salmon River north east coast of VI has had fairly significant numbers
of Atlantics caught in it as well as many of the other streams from north
of Campbell River to the Port Hardy area.

I know some of the best rivers for Atlantics are on Northern Van is. Tsitika,
Salmon, I can't remember off hand--but there is one in particular that
is full of them. If you really want info on it here are two sources:
1. there is an 1800 page SALMON AQUACULTURE REVIEW published by the BC government,
it is a few years old and we are now seeing that there was a lot of bullshit
in it--especially now that they are proven to breen in our rivers.
2. Contact John Volpe, I had some contact with him a few years back, he
is a researcher at UVIC and is in charge of studies about Atlantic Salmon
watch. You could get ahold of him though UVIC or He probably has a website
at Atlantic Salmon Watch. He will know where all the Atlantics are. OR contact
the DFO and tell them that you are interested in this.

Also the Zeballos River near-where else-Zeballos.
The whole area over there is thick with Salmon Farms,no surprise the river
is said to be as well.
