I would like to know how to catch a pike

First, find a lake with Pike, go north young man, way up north. Now, if you are fly fishing, use a stout rod (nine wt or better) and large streamer patterns in bright colours. Use heavy leader or wire leader on the fly, and cast in towards channels along shallow reedy shorlines and watch for the toilet flush as you strip the fly in. If you intend to cast hardware, use any large spoon, spinner or plug in the same areas and with the same wire leader. Cheers, former Alberta Boy.

a good method for fishing pike is to fish on the bottom with a minnow/smelt(dead). especially effective when fishing off shore from an area not too prone to snags. you'll need to find somewhere with sufficient cover for the fish of course(ie prime pike area). use a weight heavy enough to throw the bait out far and always use a wire leader.when the weight hits the bottom, reel in until all the slack is gone. set rod in a crutch with tip up. place a piece of tin foil on the line after the last eye and open the bail. watch for the foil to go out and set the hook usually after the first time the tin foil stops going out(experiment). especially effective first thing in the morning and before dark.
