Does anyone know if there are pinks in the Bowser/Quallicum area on Vancouver Island. When Is the run in that area if any? We are taking a trip over there on Thursday. Any Info would be greatly appreciated! THNX in advance.

Go to Pender Isl or Fairfax Pt. They are definately around Pender I know. Pink flashers with small pink mini squirts or abalone spoons. Even anchovies will get em. We couldnt keep em off when spring fishin at Sooke |

I just got back from sooke and guessing from the number of pinks that we caught there in two weeks while fishing for springs the run is very large this year it wasnt uncommon to catch 50 pinks in 4 hours it was difficult at times to get two rods in the water!! there was still tons of springs around as well so the late run is fairly big!

With various retention fisheries for various species in place on various rivers, the Federales want the head left on during transport. Because I was never really good at that slick way of removing gills and entrails in one fell swoop, I forgot how. I used to simply make the belly cut, and take the head totally off. I remember you need to make the belly slit to the gills, and then kinda cut under the lower jaw and gills again, grab the lower jaw and out comes everything at once with the head left on. As I recall, a set of fins also comes along.
