Vedder River Information

Looking for advice on the Vedder River. Specifically, tackle such as preferred rod and reel size, line, leader, rigging, etc. Also clothing: waders, boots (felt or lug?), clothing. I'm not interested in snagging fish, which is a real turn off and reminds me of a bad trip experienced in Alaska. I'll be up there the 25th through the 27th of October. I'm an experienced fisherman hailing from SoCal, but with limited river fishing experience. I'm looking to change my bad impression of fishing for salmon in rivers. Also would welcome suggestions for a guide.

There are places on the Chilliwack/Vedder that aren't packed. You'd have to walk a bit. Obviously there are crowds snagging in places where the fish just don't want to bite, but there are places on the river where you can fish in relative peace and quiet, and still have a nice chrome fish BITE your hook.

I agree with Brian, there are tons of places to go and enjoy a day of Fishing on the Vedder ... stay away from the Keith Wilson Bridge and if you happen to end up at a spot with idiots just move on (to one of the 40 other spots ... get a map at Fred's
http://www.freds-bc.com/). Don't let a few unethical fishermen ruin what should be an excellent trip.
