| Widgeon Lake will have several feet of snow until the third week of July. It is surrounded by a wall of mountains on 3 sides, so the sun doesn't melt the snow very fast. I used to know someone who flew in back in the late '70's and claimed he caught fish to 5 lbs. I'm doubtful, the typical fish I caught were rainbow of 12 to 14 inches. If you have the strenght to carry in an inflatable, it is the best way to fish it. The hike in is more like 4 to 5 hours. I allow 5 1/2. Its is a scenic lake, well worth the effort. There can be hordes of mosquitos down by the Pit if its a wet August. Thompson Lake is kind of similar and fly in only. Has bigger fish and is more scenic.
