Volunteer Work Leads....

I am looking to volunteer some time this fall at a local hatchery etc. Having followed this board I am aware of the vast knowledge and contacts that some of you all have. Can anyone point me towards a hatchery or other cause that promotes stream rehabilitation that is located in the lower mainland/fraser valley that is in need of volunteer help.Any help or suggestions is appreciated.

Try the Semiahmoo Fish and Game Club in White Rock They could probably use you or put you in touch with a group that can. There is also a habitat and conservation group that does a lot of work but I can't remember the name of it. If anyone is reading this from the Richmond Rod and Gun club you may remember, they were guest speakers a couple of years ago at one of the meetings. Just about Any Rod and Gun Club will have the names and Phone #'s of a number of associations that can always use volunteer help or they may even have a project going of their own that they could use help with! You could also phone the BC Wildlife Federation, I am sure they could give you names of many organizations that could use you. Have Fun!

Or ... the Tynehead hatchery operated by the Serpentine Enhancement Society and GVRD in Surrey (near Guildford).

Where do you want to volunteer? You can pretty much take your pick. There are so many good places to put you time in, it really depend on where you live, how much travel time you have and what type of volunteer work you want to do.

All of the above mentioned places are excellent and there are a number along the north shore and north fraser valley who could use your help as well.

Thanks all. I know there are lots of places to volunteer, just looking for ideas. Allouete sounds like a good idea..... have had some great days there. Thanks all.
