Looking for good fishing for kids

Has anybody fished Mike lake? If so what works there? Any other local spots with lots of action would be greatly appreciated.

use worms with with kids, always works there. and if it doesn't, the kids can always eat the worms :O

How old are the kids and does it matter what they catch. I used to take mine to the #7 road pier in Richmond. They never caught salmon there but they caught everything else including crayfish and sturgeon. Garry Point in Steveston is also a good place to take kids. When they get bored with fishing they can do other things. Take some hotdogs etc. and cook dinner down there. My kids are older, but they still enjoy coming to Garry point with me.

try Rolley Lake

Mill lake in abby has a water park as well as trout and bass.

Ian's suggestion is great. Mill lake is awesome for kids. Use small hooks say 10 or 12 and some power bait. Rainbow, Orange, Red are popular. Can't miss here. Mill lake has a pocket that is deep about 20 ft to the right of the warf and about 30 feet out. Here is where are the action is

Also If your into a bit of a drive and bigger fish. Try Deer Lake in sasquatch park. Use worms here or if in a boat willow leaf and a wedding band with a worm... can't miss. Limited in 2 hours last weekend. Fish off the point if you are fishing from shore. My nephew pulled in a 2 pounder of the point last weekend. Most were about 1.5 lbs. In the boat I managed to land a 3.5 but they are somewhat rare.

Rolley is very good as well. I have had best results with red powerbait early in the season and lightening as the season progresses. Rainbow is pretty good right now. Fish to the right of the swimming area about 40 ft out. Get to this lake early, fishing space in this area is limited. If it is full there are other spots around the lake that are pretty good. There is a trail around the lake. If you get there later you may need to do a bit of exploring...

Cheers,

Dyslexia strikes again... Fish to the left of the swimming area at Rolley... Sheesh...
