was fishin at buntzen this week, off the dock - there was an older gent there, usin what looked like a 16' rod - no reel - anyhow, over 2 hrs, he hooked and released 10 trout!!! (we got none) so when he packs up he gives us a little bit of his bait - now we had a language barrier here, so all we found out was: peanut butter, and cooked chunky yams - we also suspect that there was bread dough in it, it was mostly white with the chunks of yam showing - the trout couldn't leave it alone! problem that we had was keeping this bait on our hooks - (got my wifes nylons in the shop, cut up! hehehe) anyhow, I've used the 'berkleys power bait" before, and it didn't get us results anything like this homemade stuff! anyone else had luck with homemade stuff? thanks Mac

Hey mac that guy you saw was my friend, he's mixing in marshmellows.....when we fish Rolley Lake and just use marshmellows with powerbait smeared on it. Believe me it works

Hey Mac, what you saw was a fishing pole that is more commonly used in Europe, US and Asia. They get much longer than that too (up to 10 to 12 meters!). Yes, the bait was dough, a mixture of flour, water and other ingredients that you like. Anything that smells good would work, curry, melted peanut butter, shrimp powder, etc. It's kind of like a substitute of the more expensive bait such as Powerbait or shrimps. You can read more about bait mixture on my website. Just click on my name and follow the link.

yeah and don't get too close to the hydro lines with these coarse fishing poles either. Anglers in europe fry themselves every year just lifting the pole inadvertently near a high tension line and ZAP!! Sayonara
