Interesting story in the Times-Colonist today. The Hope Husky Restaurant was fined $500.00 for having 47 sockeye and two chinook in its freezer that were proven to be uninspected through DNA testing. Grammy's Restaurant was fined $500.00 for having 37 sockeye in its freezer, for the same reason. The New Golden Start Restaurant was fined $500.00 for having 30 sockeye in its freezer, also for the same reason. All fish were forfeited to the Crown. The fish were all purchased illegally from local aboriginals, according to Fisheries officer Bev McGuire-Funk. If you frequent any of these establishments perhaps you could tell them how you feel about this kind of stuff, or maybe not frequent them any longer. Sooner or later the people who engage in this kind of blatantly illegal activity have got to get the message that it won't be tolerated by ethical anglers. Indeed, it shouldn't be tolerated by anyone. Take care.
