Breathable waders

Mark, I have heard some good things about Crystal River breathables. I know of atleast 5 guides who have been using them this summer with no problems. Bare breathables are nothing but a problem, leak after leak. They run around $140.00 at Gills tackle in Langley. 530- 6266

For the money Crystals are the way to go. I have Bare Blackwaters and yes they are leaking but more than likely its because of me. Probably from a hook. I believe that most types of waders leak because of angler error. Sure there are defective ones but hooks, bushwhacking and just plain abuse cause the most damage.

I have heard people complain about Bare and I have heard about about people who love them. Same goes for Simms, some like em, some hate em. It all depends on who you talk to.

Just my thoughts
Greg

Greg, talk to Brent or Greg W about that. I think Greg is on his 8th pair of Bares and Brent is on his 6th.

Hmmm.... 8th pair, and 6th, must be slow learners.

Hi Vic

I think we have to look at how much one fishes. Both Greg W and Brent and yourself are guides, so I would have to believe with you guiding everyday almost you are going to go through waders more quickly.

Since I bought my waders about 3 months back, I have worn them about 3 times per week. And the only leak is because I put a hook through them by accident.

Also, where are the Bares leaking? Are they on the seams, then its warranty. If its human error then you have to pay Bare to fix them or fix them yourself.

Oh well, its a matter of opinion, one could go on comparing products?

Thanks
Greg

Ended up going with a pair of Wardell breathables. Not the 50/50 ones, just the neoprene foot.Only cost $199. First two times out they have had no problems. The foot seems to be pretty thick and solid with well done seams. There is alot of extra room in them so it is easy crouching down or lifting your legs up. There is no extra reinforcement in the knees, which probably means they are toast after the first time I bite it.

I tried on a pair of the Crystal River ones, but they seemed to be very tight in the legs. Make it tough fishing for steelhead with lots of fleece on. Also they were made of that material that swooshes when you rub it together, and I didn't want to sound like George Castanza for 3 or 4 mile walks down the rivers.
