Jensen Eggs/Definition

Can someone in here clarify for me if jensen eggs are considered bait. By Definition they appear to be bait somewhat, but my opinion is that they are not, because of what they're made of, and because the scent they contain is nothing anywhere near the "scent" of roe. I've as of late heard that someone who knows a DFO officer (they're friends) has talked to him about this in the past, and he said they are not bait. Any clarification is appareciated. Scott.

Scott bait by definition is any substance which attracts fish by scent and/or flavour, basically what they're trying to say is any solids with scent, such as jensen eggs or even wool with oil or WD40 on it are banned. When a bait ban is in effect it is usually done on a depressed body of water that contain low #s of fish or in times of heavy angling pressure. Basically it gives the fish a better chance of survival as we are only allowed to try to catch them by visual presentations only. Why they figure that out I dont know, a good visual presentation will out fish baits a good number of times, I personally very rarely use scented baits but it also depends on the species I am targeting, I guess they figure its more sporting.

Hey Gomphus! I don't think you really answered Scott's question as to whether or not Jensen eggs are bait, did he Scott? Scott went on to say J eggs don't have traditional fish scent (and they don't), but you said went on to say..."any solids WITH scent..." Isn't that a little contradictory? Also, can anyone clarify for me, what's up with this WD40 business? I've heard about it being used before, but...You mean to tell me that fish actually dig this unnatural, industrial smell?
