BEEKS

we as fishermen need to eliminate these so called "beeks" off our rivers. These beeks think that they're real hot •••• with there canadian tire gear. These dorks are ruining the fishery for us "real fishermen". so please, next time u see a beek on the river, ask him politely to leave.

Such wonderful comment, care to define "beek" for us please?

a beek is a person who thinks they can fish but they really can't. some of them have good gear, and some don't. Most beeks are all talk. they go and fish the vedder crossing all day. These type of people discust me.

People who can't spell actually disgust me :-)

Beak

Chiefly British Slang.
A schoolmaster.
A judge.

We need more tolerance and understanding, lighten up Al

I'm curious HorsesASS, Were you an instant steelhead fisherman, born with a silver center-pin in hand???? I hate to break it to you... but we all started out as "beaks"!

Well said flyguide.

no he has a brown cp hehe just got a silver one tho and horses ass are all ppl that fish the crossing beaks? i seen you there befor

i would say people that fish TAMAHI all day, everyday, are BEEKS. I was not an instant steelheader but i did keep my beekness to a minimum and i knew that i was not hot •••• so i didn't talk hot •••• like most of the beeks out there.

Al...let's keep the discussion here on useful, productive, and informative topics. In other words, let's make it worth the time to read these posts. You're banter and profanity is not useful, productive, nor informative, so stop wasting all of our time and post something of benefit for everyone. By the way, the post above suggests that you fish Tamahi "all day, everyday" if you are seeing others all of the time. I suggest you get a job, a life, a woman, etc...to occupy your time instead of wasting ours. "Flyguide", I commend your post as Al had to start somewhere, likely much closer to a "beek" than he likes to think. Cheers and Tight Lines!

The old saying " It takes one to know one". I have a hard time with some fishermen as everybody does, but to classify all beginer fishermen as beaks is a gross statement.Al, if you want to do the right thing, talk to these so-called beaks and give them some pointers to encourage the proper way to fish.Everyone crawled before they walked and your no exception.Be polite, you get more with sugar than with ••••.
P.S. A good teacher produces a good student.

I agree. I know many beginners who don't show any of the "qualities" of being a beak, they are just out there to have good time. If they don't catch a fish, big deal. They eventually become better until they master the art of fishing. The term "Beak" should be reserved for a special few ***holes who seem to be out there to piss you and everyone around you off. P.S. if you want to see a breeding ground for beaks, head on up to allison pool in October. Also, how do you get those little red circles to hide your exclamatories?

I have wanted to get me some nice red dots for effect too.. so i will try the filter out and see if i can catch some. •••• :-)

Who really cares what equipment one uses. I know of top tournament fishers and guides who use stuff that you can buy at Wal-Mart. Why classify people by their equipment instead of their skills? I guarantee you that a guide with 35 years of fishing experience using an Ugly Stick or piece of bamboo for that matter could outfish any joe-shmoe using a Loomis or Hardy (aka "Horseass"). Knowledge (and patience) is the key to fishing. In other words, its not the wand that creates magic, it is the magician using it. Let's get our facts straight here. In addition, Horseass states that "I do not like to see all these beeks on the river." and then continues by suggesting that "I think we should help these beeks out by teaching them how to fish." Where do you suggest these "beeks" get taught to fish if you don't want them on "the river". The local Burger King or something? Get the moth's out of your skull Horseass!

Horsesass;
You must have been spawned by a "River Fishing Guru"!
I for one, moved here from Alberta and I can say I wasn't the most equiped person on the river.... but from there...... I now own ten Sage rods, multiple level-winds, Centerpins (new and antique) and I have caught Steelhead on wool, bugs, roe, pink worms, dew worms, deli shrimp, krill, crayfish, gooey's, jensen eggs, things from a craft store, spoons, colorado's and spinners in Northern and Southern rivers and if I left anything out... I have probably caught one on that too! I have now graduated to using a fly to catch Steelhead. Summer's were easy but winter's are another story.
If you can say you started out with a Sage 3106M coupled with a Callcutta 400 and 30lb Fireline, a "Fred" float and split-shot ....... I will truely say you are a "RIVER FISHING GURU"! But.... by judging by your post, I think you still have much to learn and the only course is.....the RIVER!!! Beginner and Experts alike, have to use the same water to gain knowledge, so every "body" of water must be open to all of "US" so, we can all gain knowledge of our true passion...."FISHING" Trust me ... there are going to be more of us out there and we should all join together in "Unity" like the BCFDF to preserve what we have now and for the future!!!

HAHAHA ass bum know way u would go up to some guy beeking off on the river offering to help
u dont beek eh i recall a certin camping trip to the vedder were you were up on a certin very large rock using a leader so long u could just bairly cast dont forget casting at the rafters trying to hook the boats dont forget i still owe u 1

A long time ago I saw a elderly man on the Vedder with a piece of wood that measured 6 inches wide, 18 inches long, and 1.5 inches thick. At one end he had a hole that he could put four fingers thru. The other end was tapered to fit a modest wrapping of line. He held his rig (which varried from spinners to floats ect.) on the board with the thumb of the same hand and literally threw the line out using his own strength. He twisted his wrist and moved the board in a circular motion and was thus able to reel in his line. He out-fished everyone that day. This is/was the case most days this man set foot in the river. He said to me "the fish will eat if they are hungry." Fish are not smarter than us (although some steelheaders would believe otherwise). All one needs is patience and understaning of the animal in its enviroment.
I don't think I will ever fish with a board, as I
am very fond of my rods and reels but I hope I continue to have the passion for the sport as this man did.
Beeks can continue to beek all they want. Chances are the fish are elsewhere, and that is where I'll be.

Beeks aren't considered beeks because they use a rod from canadian tire or from walmart, there are plenty of beeks out there with sage, loomis and lamiglass rods, it is not the price or quality of gear they use it is the quality of sportsman that makes them a beek. People new to the sport only become beeks from watching and learning from beeks and unfortunatly the majority of people begginers meet are beeks because they fish at the easly accesible spots that knowledgeable seasond sports fisherman wont stop at... just one fishermans 2cents worth

RCG, I saw the same man (I think) at the Thompson a few years ago. He was using a board while everyone else was either fly or drift fishing. He was the only one that caught steelhead, 3 to be exact, in the space of about 1 hour! NO ONE else hooked a thing! Just shows ta go ya!

horesass. If youre going to fish the most heavely fished river in BC you have to be more tolerent. The so called beeks you speak of never realey botherd me.The people like you with that atatude are the beeks.

First of all it is called sportfishing. The purpose is for people of all ages to have fun.second if you are such a good fisherman than why do you worry about the "beeks" maybe you feel threatened??? thats right. you want to fish the same spot as them. maybe in the future you will see a "beek" and ask them to follow you so you can spread your wealth of knowledge to them. maybe that would be time better spent on the river.

Actually John if you look over the last couple of months there has been very little flaming going on and of course then people complained that the board was too quiet.

Tim I'd prefer the board to be quiet.

Lets keep the flaming only to those deserving...

like the government when we find our bugdets to the environment are cut to bone.

the new look is more appealing if you ask me.:-)
