Up on Great Bear Lake, that was our most productive method in the early spring and late fall when the waters were at their coldest. We would cast light-coloured jigs (just the jig) off drop-offs or stream mouths. A combo of the two was best. I don't know how it would work here in BC, but why not if you're someplace where the water is cold and they're near the surface (within fifteen feet).
