Catch and Release

Why is anyone retaining fish at all? Salmon taste great but stop kidding yourselves. None of us need to fish for food (not even the natives). When you add up the cost of gear, tackle, gas and time it takes to catch a fish it is a whole lot cheaper to buy it from the grocery store.
We all fish for the thrill of the fight...not for food. BE REAL SPORTSMEN AND RELEASE THE FISH.
Even if you do retain fish, keep only the smaller ones and release the monsters. This keeps the "big fish gene" alive.
Just my opinion.

Excellent Points Marcel.

Im sure most of us dont fish for source of food. The reason we keep fish is as a trophy for our skill and effort. Myself, I only keep bright coho's and rarely do I keep my limit even if hook that many ( do we really need 30 socs 20 hos 10 white spring and a nice chum for the smoker or barbie (lol) in our freezer?) Btw , how unethical is it to boink a chum just 4 roe?

Hey Marcel

One prob, I don't care for farmed fish! Sometimes the only way is to go out and bonk one. I've heard of "Steelhead" for sale at Save-On, must be the old, gross brood stock, or?? Yuck!! This can't be true!

It costs a whole lot more to catch and release fish and buy them from the store rather than to just bonk them yourself.

have you ever tasted the crap they call salmon at the store? who knows how long it's been sitting there, not to mention the antibiotics and other chemicals they get while in the pens! Nothing like a fresh spring, coho or sok!
