So what are the exact rules as far as Americans comming up here and fishing classified waters? As i understood, they can only fish classified waters for 14 days. I was at the Thompson on the weekend and could barley find a run to throw a fly. The guys i go up with said they talked to a Washington guy who says he has fished the river 28 days this year! Is this legal? If not how come he is getting away with it. Wha happened to the days when you could go to Spences and maybe see 10 guys on the river any given day? Now im counting upwards of hundreds......MOSTLY AMERICANS....70% ANYWAYS. Now i have nothing against yanks, but as a canadian, shouldnt i have the right to fish the river first? Maybe the DFO should look at limiting the number of non Canadian lisences the sell...what do you think?...........Just ranting a little as i was pushed out of runs on the weekend and am very disapointed.

Any citizen of the planet can fish any waters in BC as long as he or she wants to. Except ,of course those waters that are closed to everybody. BC residents get to pay only once for the year. Non-residents, of BC and non-resident NON-Canadians have to pay as they go. Classified water permits are issued in maximum 8 day blocks. BUT, they can come back and get any number of 8 day blocks they like. the classified water permits are body-specific. Meaning if I want to fish the Morice for a portion of a day, and the Kispiox for another portion of the same day, I'd need 2 classified water permits. the "homesteaders" that like to fish a specific stream simply get an 8 day permit, and another, and another, and another...10.70 a day converted to US money is a steal, don't you think? Like 6.78 US. Give me a break....you should have HEARD the WHINING and SNIVELLING up here at this HIGH price..... Not everybody, of course, but about one in three moaned, and groaned about it. Too bad you were low-holed....we see it here all the time too...there is a western state monikered big sky country... and they were the absolute worst offenders....Again the good sports are invisible, but the ugly ones make themselves obvious real fast.....

My two cents is that I don't think any non-citizen should get to fish our waters without paying a hefty fee. There is as many good fishing spots in the US as in Canada. As residents of a specific country I feel there are a few priviledges that should come with that... however, that is obviously not the case. Should it be looked at and changed? Probably. Will it ever happen? Not in this lifetime. Just adding to the convo and venting my own frustrations... ;)
