Neoprene waders

i'm looking to buy a new pair of neoprenes. i have river rats now but i want to get a pair that are a little better quality. suggestions? trophy's, bare, springbrook, sea tux? Prices?

Bare Supra4's. Without a doubt, an excellent wader. Spring brooks are pretty good as well, but pricey, and they dont have knee pads which the supra 4's have, and I can say they are a very neccessary part of waders now a days. If you talk around, and bargain you should be able to get them for around 190-200 before taxes.
Good luck,
Scott

have a look at the Emergers from Berry's Bait&Tackle http://www.berrysbait.com
i've had mine for years they're tough as nails.
i've been told that it's SeaTux who makes them, not sure though.

Rod, Bare makes the Emergers. They're almost identical to the Supra 4's only they dont have
a few less accessories and the thickness of the neoprene is a bit diff.

Have both Springs & Supra's.The Bares are way more flexable but the springs are warmer in the tube.I would go with the Bares due to the fact of comfort and yes the pads on the knees.Great for year round use

Have a look in the latest Cabela's book. Very good waders at half the price. Stay away from Springbrook, the seams leak real bad after a while. Thats because they have stopped putting in a small strip to hold the seam on the inside. For bootfoot waders in Cabela's $79.00 and that is 5mm neoprean. So when it gets to your door about $160.00 Canadian. You can't beat that.

I wouldn't trade my Bare Supra 4's for anything. Kneepads, handwarmer, pockets and made locally. How can you beat that? On another note my wife has Trophy XL's 3mil waders. We ran them up to Bare in Langley, they removed the feet and put on 5 mil feet all for 40.00 Not bad, Prof.

waders certainly are fickle things arent they? never had a pair that lasted longer than 2 years. best bet is to buy local and maybe the store owner will give up some hot tips.

what i did with mine as soon as i bought them was turn them inside out and then apply seam seal to all seams;then when they were dry i did the same to all the outside seams.
yes it cost some $$ in Seam Seal but at 7 years old they look like dirt but don't leak at all.

Wader lifetime is a good indication of time spent on river. I don't have a problem with the seams it is the feet that start to seap after just under a year. After wearing seatux garbage for the last 4 years I would have to say that the Bare 4 mm are warmer and more comfortable. Just like wearing pajamas on the river.

I have a pair of river rats right now and i sweat in them alot! Do you guys sweat in your bare's when you are walking alot

yes,a person ends up wet either way!
a lot depend on what you wear underneath the waders,i almost always have polar fleece on,so when i do take them off i dry out really quickly.
one point that's been missed so far i the need to keep the neoprene clean.
the dirt that a person ups while wading, bushwacking, slipping&falling, whatever causes a lot of wear to the material;ask a carpet cleaner about the best way to look after carpets and he'll tell you vacuum, vacuum, vacuum.
so,in the same spirit i clean my waders constantly,in the 'tub with a shot of dishwashing soap, then rinse well&hang to dry.
the long life my present pair have had proves this works,as they are under constant use.
also,i don't have a stinking mess to confront every morning,as do so many less picky anglers.

A timely discussion, as my 10 year old Wardell's have just finally given out this week. Both feet have worn through the soles, on the same day no less. I figure that the seams are also wearing, and I should replace them rather than get new feet attached. Has any one got any comments on the Osprey 357 Magnum waders?

I don't wear neoprene anymore. Unless you're using a float tube or standing in one spot all day long on the river, there's really no need for them around here (Lower Mainland). I like to walk when I fish steelhead so I wear a pair of felt soled rubber waders. Two pairs of socks, a pair of long johns underneath a pair of sweatpants and I'm plenty warm enough. Just the fact that I'm not drowning in my own sweat keeps me from getting cold. It does seem however that those of us who wear the rubber waders are looked down upon by the neoprene fraternity, why is that?? Anybody else prefer rubber waders?? (I just know someone will make a pun about wearing rubber)

You guys should maybe look into buying a pair of Gortex Waders. These waders let your body breathe. But get ready for the price about $600.00. I know of one person who has a pair and they really like them.

I got my goretex for 325. It's a little steep but I needed them bad, wasn't going to go through another bout of hypothermia. If you know an Orvis wholesaler guy you can get them for 180. Unfortunately that bridge has been longed burned.

I have a pair of green Acton's that are made of the thicker rubber. I also have a pair of Helly Hansen's, they're gray with brown boots, they're made of lighter material (not sure what it is?) and I prefer to wear them. Only problem is if you're hiking in the bush, they do puncture/tear a little easier than the Acton's. The felt soles are definitely a plus.

The Osprey Magnum 357's are worth a looksee! Might be pricey but they do come with a lifetime warranty and are extremely comfortable.
