Charging of trolling batteries?

Can anyone suggest a good way to charge 12 volt batteries (for trolling motor) when I am away from home (grid power). I have a cabin with no power and do not want to use a gas motor, but have problems running out of juice...I can use oars but would like to know if anyone has any suggestions...thanks

You can buy solar panels for charging batteries at Crappy tire. I,m not sure how long they would take to completly change one though. Your best bet would be a small gen. A friend of mine made one with an old lawn mower motor and a car alternator.

Why not just use the alternator in your car?

Sandman that,s to easy. We're talking fishermen here. In the case of my buddy he has a half mile hike into his cabin. He got tired of packing a battery in and out. He.s to honest to steal a gen. and to cheap to ever buy one.Nasty little hike to,you can,t even get a dirt bike in there. Quiet though. Well most of the time.

That is too funny Dale. If you are going to hike into a lake like that, I would wonder why even bring a motor?

I didn,t say it was for a motor now did I. He likes to watch the evening news on his 12v tv.

lol :-)
