I was readin through the old reports from this time last year, and saw a guy who was commenting on a lure called the Banjoe Lure, he had success with it? Anybody know of it? Chris

Yeehaw, the banjo minnow! Right up there with the helicopter lure. It used to be advertised on TV as a lure that could catch all species of fish, but I think it was primarily a bass lure. I always liked the funky music the commercial had....

I was given (honest!) a set as a Christmas gift last year. Came with a video, which had awesome shots of every species imaginable (including steelhead) hitting these slithering, swimming plastic baits. I decided to fish them on the sly in the local pay pond -- if you can't catch a fish when there are 300 to the acre, then the lure isn't very good. What I learned is that the Banjo Minnow is a very fiddly thing to rig so it swims provocatively. As I recall it uses not only special hooks (of very light wire: suitable for bass or hatchery trout, maybe), but some screw wire doo-hickey had to be threaded into the nose to take the specialist sinker. In short, in the real world you can't make the suckers swim like they do on the video. If you could, I have no doubt they'd attract bites. (Don't know if you'd land any big fish: hooks are too light.)

They work great for rock cod and black bass, other than that they are a piece of . Sort of like CHarlie Whites Ultimate fishing lure.

Yeah, I have Charlie Whites trollign and jigging lure. I find the jigging one works for lingcod only, havent had much luck with the trolling lure. I asked him, and he suggested I bend the lure a bit, so I have yet to try that (jigging model.) As for the banjoe info, thanks. Chris
