Abu-Garcia Ambassadeur reels - C3 vs. C4

I was wondering about the pros and cons of the c4 vs. the c3. I note that the c4 has a faster retrieve rate than the c3, and 4 ball bearings rather than 3.

I'm looking for a general purpose float fishing reel for everything from steelhead to chums.

I've noted Scott K's comment about the slower retrieve being better for Springs, and Ken F.'s comment about the exposed 4th bearing, in reviewing prior posts.

Thanks!
Derek.

Derek, Think the less junk on a reel the better it is. Get a PLAIN Abu 6500. And you will have less problems. But don't go and put line on it that it is not rated for. Like 50lb. tuff line.

Abu's are nice looking reels but inside they're cheap junk. Everything's made of nylon! I don't have any worries about puting a heavy fireline on my calcutta.

Well you should worry!!!! ALL reels are rated for a certain line weight. And anything over that is putting stress on the reel. Put cable on your reel for all I care. But when it blows up, you go running back to you tackle store wanting your warranty. I worked in a tackle store and that is what happens. I don't know what you mean about all Abu's are made of NYLON??????????

Derek I my self own 10 Abu,s of which 2 are C4,S.I use them for Sock,s on the Fraser to Spring,s on the Vedder.I have owned them for 4 yrs now and I have not had any problem with them at all.All my reel,s are loaded with Fireline from Berkely.
