Berkley "Whiplash" Line

Has anyone tried the new Whiplash line from Berkley?

If so, how does it compare to Fireline?

It is quite a bit cheaper and thinner (for a given lb strength) than fireline.

I'm thinking of using it for the spring and sockeye fishery in place of my fireline which can get quite expensive.

If theres no maxima on the shelf, I myself move to Charterboat.

The best (cheapest) place to buy Fireline is Walmart, it's $19.99 as opposed to $29.99 in other places.
They also have the cheapest prices on Plano tackle boxes BTW.
I haven't used Whiplash yet myself, is it a similar product?
Berkley makes Fireline as well so I wonder if they aren't cannabilizing their marketshare.
Scott has never used a no-stretch line so he has no idea, which of course doesn't stop him from offering empty advice, never will.

Carl,
Its not about me not using one, I have used one before, its about simplifying things. Theres new products coming out in fishing a mile a minute. Flurocarbon, no stretch lines, this and that, why make it harder on myself than it already is?
I enjoy continuity amongst the equipment I own,
and I think some of these products (IE flurcarbon) may just be a placebo to some point, although some swear by them increasing their odds of success. It could really all just be due to more confidence in what they're fishing.

I understand no stretch lines have certain advantages Ie solid hook sets, apparenlty more lively fights and this and that, but for the river fishing I do, I'm quite happy with Maxima.
When I take up fishing for butts, I'll let you know.

Of course you're right Scott, beginners like yourself should keep it simple.
Not too many things to think about for you and complete safety for the fish.
BTW-Mark Sosin say that Fluorocarbon is one of the most misspelled words on the net-I think he may be right.
As to Halibut they are one of the easiest fish in creation to catch which means that they are still safe from Club-Handed Know-Nothing Hacks like yourself.

Carl,
I'm just waiting for you to offer everyone on the boards another chance to come over to your apartment "near the west end" and look at all your fishing tackle. I was dying for another chance, when is the next tour running? Why don't you have an internet page to go with your ego?

Sorry that should read 'Cack-Handed' not 'Club Handed'
