Do salmon bite same colours in different lures?

Do salmon bite a certain colour on any given day more so thna a certain size or type of lure? i.e if a Blue/Silver Spoon is working, might a Blue/Silver plug or hootchie work as well? Or better?

Also, read an article on plugs beign successful, where as I though tthey were artifacts of the past.

Last year I was fishing a Green Spoon at 60', a Green Hootchie at 60' later, and then later a Green Squirt at 60'. (green is the good colour where I fish, in Saanich Inlet). Anyways, noly the Green Spoon yielded a salmon, the other two didnt. On other days I have found that a number of different spoon colours will all produce over any colour of hootchie. Then there are the days when a Green anything will work. My thesis is that the 3rd scenario is when the salmon are territorial such as feeders, and are not necessarily biting because it looks like food, it maybe to take away any food from competition. 2nd scenario, these salmon are biting because they think that the lures are actual herring or needlefish etc. in size, and they're biting to eat. In the first situation, which was right outside the Cowichan River, I believe that, it is a combination of the two. The springs are ready to spawn, and arent going to bite anything unless its perfect.

Now I was wonderign what you guys ahve experienced int erms of colours, ya see....I do know a thign or two. Ever seen me say 'put your time in' when somebody asks me a question? I'd be happy to help.

I bet that the 3rd situation is the hardest place to catch fish, because you must have everything right. A well known man named Charlie White who fishes near where I do, showed me a video of how salmon bite a lure. They continually bump it until it passes the ok. BTW this is why you keep a hook sharp at all times.

Well, I've began a book here, hehe, the main reason I asked this question in the first place was because I was going to try a few plugs this weekend. And I've never fished with plugs before. So I didnt know if I should use the same colours as other lures, or try some new ones for my best bet.
