Keeping in mind the different target species. What wool colors work best in the Vedder? Does size matter? What about leader length?

I haven't fished there for awhile, but a combo of bubblegum pink and cerise always worked well for me for steelhead years ago. I put a couple of 2" strands in the bait loop (one of each colour), pulled the bait loop tight against the hook eye, trimmed 'em to about 3/4", then fluffed 'em up into a ball. Cheap and effective. Casey Giesbretsch uses a 4 inch leader with 3 splitshot hanging off his 3 way swivel. Never seen him catch a fish but if he ever does, it won't be flossed

Ryan oh so true, way too funny man. Hot pink wool at the vedd is always good. Combine it with other colours you cant go wrong. Never go over a 2.5 ft leader. 8lb or 10lb, gin clear 6lb. is the way to go for ho's!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have never used a 4 inch leader smallest was 6 and a half and that was for pocket water in a certin small river and u know what it worked got my first steelie on it and i dont use a 3 way u looser lol spell my name right

IF float fishing Allison you can go as long as 4 ft when short floating in the slower water but anywhere else on the vedd is just flossing. It is certainly pathetic when you see the guys around the trainbridge using 6ft leaders. Size of the wool combo defiently matters, when steely fishing in the upper during low and clear conditions the size of my wool combo is often smaller than my pinky finger. Fishdaddy, what is your favorite all round set up for the bigg Chedder? Casey, since you are the pocket water expert what is your favorite set up for the Tamihi area that you fish? This floss/snagg heaven has produced a lot in the last month or so...

Ian, that area has turned into BEAK gathering. I heard that somebody burnt the bathroom down in there trailer a few weeks ago while camping at tamahi. too funny!

my set up in tamihi is about 18 inches of leader depending on water usually 8# and a #4 gammie with bubble gum pink/peach or orange/peach depending on the area i usually stick to split shot not pencil lead. as for it being a beack show all i can say is HELL YEAH! i got to my spot one day at 6:00 am i was the first person there by 7:00 i had a guy up on a rock behind me casting over my head. as for burning down the trailer bathroom that was my dad not me ;) i woke up to the place burning lol i hear those things will burn end to end in 5 min i feel pretty lucky that i got out finaddict, i never said huked on fonuks wurked 4 mee. :p

ok hear is the story was campin at tamihi we put a few candles in the trailer to take the dampness outta the air. one was in washroom sink the other was in the kitchen sink i blew the kitchen one out as i went to bed and left the other for my dad to get when he came in. so i dose a little hear a crackle i ignore it thinking its the fire outside hear it again i open my eyes my trailer is full of smoke and the bathroom is glowing i run out chocking an tell my dad he puts it out the end.
