Flyrod / Baitcaster

Jim, you are correct about what the regs say about flyfishing, however, true flyfishing is where you use a 'flyrod', not a baitcaster. We
do use splitshot on the line sometimes, but usually only if we're using a dry line and want the fly to get down fast. Think about it!

Would like to no what people think of the st.croix flyrods and how do they compare to uther rods. Are they a fast action rod?

I have a 5/6 wt st croix and I love it. Especially with my budget I can't afford sage but wouldn't shop at wal-mart for something worth holding bean stocks up in the garden. It casts phenominally well(& I'm no expert) and has great action for playing fish. Mine also came with a lifetime warranty which is always reassuring when a company is willing to stand behind it's product. I don't know how "fast" the action is, I have only flyfished with a limited amount of rods. For casting I find it easier than my bit more expensive lamiglas but it's a heavier rod(#8)so that could be why.

I love my St. Croix`s over a lot of more expensive rods. I have a St. Croix Imperial Graphite 7/8 and a Ledgend Series 5 wt. Like them both better than my G. Loomis rod. I`d personally rate them up with my Sage, Scott, and Orvis rods. The Imperial Graphite series is a great buy. Even better if you buy the blanks and build yourself.
