Mayflies

On Sunday afternoon down at the Alouette I noticed a decent hatch of mayflies coming off when the clouds were starting to break up, and I'm wondering if anyone may know what type of mayflies these would be. They were a pale blue, about a size #18 or so, and they seemed to be emerging from the more stagnant back channels. My entomology on local streams ain't up to snuff, if it isn't a Baetis, I probably won't recognize it. Thanks.

I would imagine these to be blue winged olives. As I have seen them hatch on most of our local streams throughout the winter and spring. I have also noticed quite a number of winter black stone flies hatching as well on the Alouette too.

I saw some blue winged olives coming of the coquitlam yesterday in the sun it was a nice warm day around size 12 i was impressed that they were so big for the time of year
