Hi i'm coming to BC july 7 from Sweden to drive around for two weeks to get some of the worlds best flyfishing i hope. I would be grateful for suggestions of places to go. Thanks, John.

Geez, BC is a big place. Can you narrow down your preferences and locations? Do you prefer streams or lakes? What kind of gear are you packing - float tube? waders? will you use guide services? Do you want to target salmon? trout? The interior lakes are doing really well right now, depending on elevation and weather, some coho and chinook are starting to show up in the local Vancouver streams, there might be some summer steelhead action on Vancouver Island. More definition and maybe we could give you more guidance. cheers. G.

Thanks for answering Geoff. I'll be packing waders and a couple of flyrods. I guess i'm looking for some steelhead action primarily. I'll be arriving in Vancouver, but i'm prepared to go where ever the flyfishing is good, even all the way up to Prince Rupert. I have read an article here at home, but it's nine years old now. In the article three main areas were menshioned, Vancouver Island with Gold- and Gampbell river, Kamloops, and the Skeena area. If i got i right Skeena is better in fall and winter?. I would also need recommendation for the best flyfishing and outdoors supplier in the vancouver area. Thankful for any hints, John.

Hmm, July 7 is a bit early for most of the local salmon action, but it sounds like you are equipped for walk and wade type fishing, as well as some travelling. I suggest you contact Micheal & Young flyshop at www.myflyshop.com or call them at (604) 588-2833 to get some leads and possible guide advice. There may be some steelhead action up at the upper Squamish river, the Chehalis River locally is nice to fish, but very unpredictable and spotty in terms of the summer steelhead coming up. The upper Pitt River is also pretty good for some summer action and beautiful scenery. Be advised that we are having a very late spring and the weather along the whole coast of late has been, in a word, shitty. Most of the coastal streams are still blowing out due to snowmelt from record snowpacks as well as the long cool rainy spring we've been having. Cheers.
