Can anyone tell me about the quality and functionality of Regent vises. Trying to figure out if I am looking at a bargain or not. Thanks Ken

I just want to clarify that we are talking about "Regent", not "Regal". I am wondering if Regent is a Regal knock-off. Thanks Ken

I've owned a Regent Vise for about 5 years and have tied probably 500-600 flies with it. I just love this vise and it works as good today as the day that I bought it. It makes me wonder what justifies spending three times the amount on a Regal vise. Maybe I got lucky and the next guy might buy one that'll fall apart after a year or two.

Terry, I only had a quick look at the Regent vise and was wondering if you had any trouble with the jaws holding smaller hook sizes. I am asking all these questions because a local hardware shop is trying to clear out two Regent vises and I am looking at them as a second vise at thome. Does anyone have an idea what the average price on these vises is? Thanks Ken

Ken, The smallest hooks that I typically tie are #18 and the vise holds the hook just fine. The vise also did a great job of holding some big Bass flies that I tied last summer.
