Just out of curiosity, do fly-fishermen generally view the "Backroads Country Mapbooks" and "BC Fishing" series by Mussio Ventures as a "friend" or "foe"? Here is what I mean... some people view them as a resource for finding out about new lakes and others view them as a curse since they ruin good fishing spots. Do you guys think that these books have ruined fishing in the area or have just consolodated existing information?

B.C. has so many incredible lakes and streams, it seems to me those who consider Backroads books etc. as a curse are being pretty small-minded. In fact, the books (and other resources, such as forestry maps, hiking books, etc) probably help decrease crowding by providing information on alternatives to the most accessible and obvious spots. Not to mention the possibility that these sources help keep us from getting lost, and help us to determine which spots are accessible by what type of vehicle/hike/etc. The only thing that ruins good fishing spots is yahoos who don't respect the environment or its inhabitants (people and fish!).

And a couple more thoughts..... 1)Some of the best lakes are not even mentioned in these guides, and 2)Do not take for gospel their descriptions of lakes

Here is a good thought as well... If you know of a lake that is described as poor or inconsistant in the guide... keep your trap shut about it and enjoy your good fortune!!!
