Flyfishing for pinks

I am interested in fly fishing the fraser-valley, for pinks. Any suggestions as to best timing and good choices for rivers. I have fished the vedder river before latter in the season in Mid october. Does it have a sizable run of pinks? Is it reasonable to fish for them without a quide service? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

the mouth of the harrison river is a very productive spot....you can easily catch them from an anchored boat anywhere near the mouth...launch at kilby...check with your tackle shop for timing...also, if you have a fast boat you can hit the indian river, at the top of indian arm..which should happen within the next couple of weeks...the indian river is small and clear...you have to dock at the top and walk up the road until you find trails into the river...the pinks are small, but numerous and tend to hole up in the deeper waters...watch out for bears!! If you dont have a boat, you can also fish the harrison from shore at kilby and further up, but it is not as productive as the mouth...the lower end of the river is on Native land, so they dont like non-natives walking down the river to fish...technically, however i believe their land ends at the high water mark of the river, so if you walk down in the river, they really dont have much of an arguement...two years ago, i walked down the river and hopped on a log boom and fished from there...a native came and yelled that he was going to call the cops, so i told him to go right ahead...I never saw him, or the cops though.

Stick to the Harrison or lower vedder. The Indian is too much effort when you can just drive to one of the these two rivers. Bears are definetly a problem out there.

Does anyone know anything about flyfishing from shore for pinks around Cates Park, Deep Cove area? Best time/tides to fish?

Ken....we have a good thread on flies for pinks. PS.... the little fly I've decribed was most popular there a few years back....a sport from here went there with my flies... and was the only rod taking pinks in a consistant manner.... amazing what the river price for a fly gets to !! I think the rod sold a few flies there for what he gave me for the lot.

use anything pink and weighted and you will get pinks.

try like mariboo or rabbit patterns
