I was out looking for new fly lines today and I came across clear/camo lines.
Are these sort of lines necesary?

Ryan, Of course they are not necessary but what a difference! Last spring I bought the Cortland Camo intermediate sinking line and for the lakes up here that line is perfect. Another good point worth mentioning is you can get away with a 6-7 ft. leader. Combine Camo with fluorocarbon and the only visible thing subsurface is the fly. The question you have to ask yourself is, "Can I justify putting out $65-70 for a new type of line?" For me the answer is simple to the point that last week I bought the new Cortland Ghost Tip(clear sink tip line). Buy the Camo, you won't be disappointed. Take care, Prof.

i Just picked up the cortland sink and ghost tip line and it has been great. It is a line with 15 feet of clear in the front, so u can still watch your line in the water. It is pretty pricey but i guess u pay for what u get

THese are great lines for saltwater flyfishing as well. The intermediate lines cut under the chop, and when the fish are spooky in estuaries it makes a difference. |
