I'd like to try a bit of fly fishing (fresh water) around Powell River area in mid-September. Heard there are some great fishiing opportunities.
Any helpful suggestions on where to fish would be appreciated. |

If you dont already have one, get a backroads map. There are many great lakes up in the bush aways. There is a small lake called Spring lake that is loaded with red meat cutties, none of really any size but non the less lots of fun. There is also Nanton Lake, Stay to the right side of the lake. Unfortunately there isnt to many spots from shore to fly fish as it is very swampy. Unless you dont mind a couple dozen leaches dinning on your legs, as I once found out. So i recomend a boat or a belly boat. Good luck
P.S. Dont go up durring 6AM to 6PM weekdays. It is closed to public trafic as there is active logging up on these roads. there has been a few fatalities in the last few years up there. |
