Can someone please tell me how too fish a squamish poacher? i tied a few up last night but i dont know if i use a sinking line ect. thanks. |

Matt,
Fish it on a dead drift with a sinking tip, like you would any other steelhead attractor pattern. Or underwrap a bit of lead wire or dental floss for extra weight and fish it on a floating line. The trick is to get it deep and infront of the steelie's nose. Give the retrieve a couple of jerks if you like and maybe you can entice a cuttie to snatch it. |

Here is a link that might help www.rainlandflycasters.homestead.com/NCJrFC.html just scroll down and hit squamish poacher.The original Joe Kambietz dressing called for the 7970 5x mustad hook,(some serious iron).Many tiers have substituted 1197 Eagle claws or 7999 TMC UTE hooks.Fish it deep and dead drift either 15ft type 4-6,or alternately shooting heads 300 gr and up. |
