| Downtown Vancouver Report for April 28th | ||
 For the past week we have been off of the South Side of Bowen Island looking for Feeder Chinook Salmon. The past few days have been very good with half a dozen on the hook per trip with the largest being about 17 pounds. The average seems to be about 11 or 12 pounds. Depths that have worked best are between 80 feet and 100 feet with Anchovy working better but spoons are a close second. This is a great fishery as there is lots of room for many boats and everyone seems to be getting action.Upper Howe Sound has also been very good but you don't hear much about this fishery as there are a select few that venture to Defense and Fury Creek area. Fish to 25 pounds have been taken in the Sound. Don't have any news on the Hole or the West Side of Bowen as the bulk of the fishers have been off of Bowen Island. Standard tackle used in this fishery: Spoons, Gypsy and Gator in Punk Skunk, Flamin Hans, Purple Haze, Cop Car and Green and White have worked well for us with and without flasher. Hootchies also produce so change up your gear if you are in a slow period. Anchovy, Herring strip and whole Herring have been the ticket on some days.
