| Kootenay Kingfisher Fishing Report for April 24th |
 I finished up the first half of April on Arrow Lake, with great Bull Trout fishing, and grabbed a few Gerrards to 10lbs. Then I moved over to Kootenay Lake to start the spring Gerrard season.
First day out we boat 9 gerrards and 3 bulls. All on hair on top at about 2.4 - 2.7 mph. The next day it's a bit cooler, and we drop down to 6 gerrards. All on hair. The third day was real cool and the fish went dorment, but we still managed a couple of fish. Both were on plugs. As the water warms up, my speed will increase.
The warmer days are definitely better fishing days with the water still a bit cool. However it is in the zone now at about 42 - 43 degrees. Lots of fish in the 2 - 6 lb range and some 12 - 15 lbs.
I'm going to fish Trout Lake this spring looking for bigger fish. Trout Lake has always produced big Trout in the spring and fall. Almost zero fishing pressure, but fish in the low to mid 20's are caught each year. Ice off will be in the first week of May, and when the water temp hits the 40's, I'll spend a few days to check it out for you. In the past I've fished this lake a half dozen times or more, and at least half the time caught big fish, so this should be pursued further.
