I just got a boat & purchased a new downrigger & trolling rod. I never fished with a downrigger.I will be trolling Moyie Lake. It is a very deep & cold lake in the Kootenays. It has rock bluffs & drop offs. It is similar to Kootenay Lake but small in comparison. My questions are: How much line should I let out before I attach the weight. I will be using electric motor trolling between 2-3 mph. Would 30 feet depth be good for May or should I go deeper. When I buy plugs or lures, how do you choose the colour patterns for fishing a Lake. They look like good colours for me, but how about the fish, what colours do they like. I am going to give it a try this weekend. Apparently they have rainbulls & bull trout. I just want to get a little knowlege on this sport as I am new to it. Any help on this would be much apprieciated. Thanks |
