We got to the river about 8am...hatchery run was packed (of course!) went downstream and almost went swimming...not good! Got onto 1 decent but old Coho and released it...no steelhead :( Got back up to the hatchery and decided to give it a shot, my buddy got a nice 8# hatchery buck on his 3rd cast...heard the comment 'sh_t'! That was it for the day...only heard of 1 other caught.

The Cowichan has suffered west coast winter steelheading weather. It has rained and snowed all week and the rivers condition is not good. The river is currently running 2ft higher than that of last weekend. The water is turbid and brown silty again. One week of no rain and it will be fishable again. If you are planning a steelhead trip go to the Stamp or the San Juan. When it does clear up, the upper river will be the place to start. Tightlines

The Cowichan is in great shape and getting better. Fished both below and above Skutz Falls and caught one 8 1/2 lb steelhead and two 4-5 lb class steelies. Just below the falls at theHorse ShoeBend pools there was alot of fishing pressure but no takers. Above the falls at Bear Creek, the fish I caught were on a large corkie (orange) with a 1/0 hook and a little bit of white super glow yarn on top of the corkie . Drift boaters are now on the upper river. Tightlines

Fished Elk lake and Langford Lakes recently. Must have been a slow day on Langford as not even a bite (fished wooly bugger near bottom then switched to bloodworm, spratly, etc...) but still no luck. Went to Elk and fished powereggs and caught my limit in 25 mins (largest was 2 1/2 pnds). Does anyone have any reports on other south island lakes for fly or spin fishing? With recent warm spells I am thinking that some of the fish will start to come nearer the surface and feed on some of the small fly hatches that are occuring.. Thanx and Tight Lines!

IAN: If you want bigger than norm cutts, go to lower campbell lake. There is a place called loon bay campsite. A 5 min walk from there is a nice sized bay, that now has a culvert going in to it, there used to be an old trestle bridge there, ( that is how most people know about it) I have never taken a cutt smaller than 16" there, my largest being 23.5". There is a deep pocket int the middle of the bay that seems to attract schools of larger fish. They also spawn there so they have a tendancy to hang around there. I haven't been there for approx. 4 months but I have been going there for 10 years and my luck has never changed. I have found that Curvettes always produce, as well as pink or red rooster tails, ( mepps and panther martins in those colours as well) But I have out produced lures with the fly many times, especially my self designed minnow patterns.

andy the gold has been fluctuating in terms of water levels, but it seems that after a good rain it will push a good bump of fish into the river. they have been catching them on the usual assortment of gear {spin and glows, colorado spinners, gooey bobs, pink worms and wool) note: there is a bait ban on this river! do you know any hot places for cutty's right know. ps: thanx for the info on cutty lures.

Attention IAN; I have always found silver backed Curvettes work best for cutthroats, when I used to spin fish, especially for larger ones. Gold backed ones will work, but not as well. Ultimately, nothing beats a well designed minnow fly though !!

Fished limit hole today for around 4 hours, no luck. Didnt see anything caught up top at all. Went down to Allison Pools around 10:00. Landed a real nice hatchery around 9 pounds. Once again caught on a pink gooey bob. This is the second hatchery ive caught that was missing part of its tail. Other than that is was in beutiful condition. I assume its from seals. Lots of rain today, expect there will be no chance of fishing the lower end at all tomorrow. The fish are there, but they're hard to find.

The Stamp is the best fishable river right now, from middle to southern regions of Vancouver Island. Large numbers of Steelhead are present. The river is alittle high but still very fishable. Plenty of steelies are being caught below the Stamp Falls. There is alot of fishing pressure from riverside baitcasters, just below the falls. There are very few fly fishers right now , but the ones that are present are all using 15+foot spey rods with fast sink shooting heads. Flies used are mostly weighted egg patterns(pink with orange eye) and squamish poachers. Most steelies are coming in with fresh roe, but pink and orange gooey bobs are the #2 choice. Largest steelie I landed today was 5lbs. Bring your rain gear and tightlines.....

The Cowichan is still high and muddy. Late spawning Coho's and some Steelhead have managed to make it past Skutz Falls, and are catchable from the 70.2 Mile bridge to the falls. Pink worms,BC orange Gooey Bob's, and red Spin"n" Glows have produced. If you are a hearty winter steelheader, the Cowichan will be in shape within a week of good weather. One brave sole launched a drift boat at Lake Cowichan and drifted the upper river. No luck though. Forget flyfish right now the river is too fast and dirty. I'll keep you posted..... Tightlines

fished limit pool this morning caught an 8 pound hatchery steelie on a red and white wool combo.[white was in the front] steve some good wool combos that have been succesful for me are the pink lady with a bit of white wool in the front, after the river has risen quickley i will sometimes use green wool, but all in all the best producer is red and white or the pink lady. ps douse anybody know anything about the chehalis in terms of coho, steelies and cutthroat.

Message for Brian, Sorry Brian, nice try. You are 14 days too late to fish the Thompson. River is closed to all angling from Jan.1 to Mar 31. Wetting a line will get you a stiff fine and all your gear confiscated. If you happen to catch and kill a fish the C.O. will also likely confiscate your vehicle and everything else you used for fishing. Suggest you try one of the rivers in the Lower mainland.Beautiful, uncrowded locations with reliable water flows (smirk).

Started fishing top end at first light at the Limit Hole. Caught one twelve pound hatchery, friend lost a nice fish, unsure as to whether it was wild or not. Better luck next time Gary. Carried on to just above Allison Pool, caught a real nice wild one around 13 pnds. In all had a great day, can't say the same for alot of the other die hards out there. River seems to be shaping up nicely, even being high, has good color. Caught all fish on hot pink gooey bobs.

In response to the earlier posting about winter lake fishing in the lower mainland,I recommend the Florence Lake Forestry road stretch north from the Stave Falls Dam above Hayward Lake. There are four lakes, Devils, Sayres, Morgan and Florence as you head north on this road, and Sayres has vehicle access to an old dock site at the south west end, although finding the right turn-off into it can be a challenge. The other three lakes are walk-in access so are best fished with a float tube. Devils Lake is stocked with Cutts while Sayres, the biggest lake, has a prison camp fish hatchery on it at the SE end and has a mix of Brookies and Rainbows. Morgan and Florence Lakes are catch and release only and are sometimes quite moody. I like the outlet creek end of Morgan as well as the island bay at the inlet creek end (northwest corner). Mike Lake (Golden Ears Park north of Maple Ridge) and Rolley Lake (west of Maple Ridge, and the way to Stave Falls Dam) are also fair bets as they are regularly stocked and easily accessible. Cheers.

My friend and I went to the Chehalis yesterday (Jan 9/99) and spent the entire day vainly casting sundry steelhead and egg pattern flies in the water only to come up with NOTHING. The method in common use (float, weight and neon wool with spin-cast rod) was bringing some skaggy looking Salmon in near the hatchery. However, I am wondering what on earth we are doing wrong with the fly rods that we are unable to catch even the occasional fish in the winter. The summer seems to treat us better. What are we doing wrong?

Spent the day enjoying the sunshine at Vedder. We started the morning downstream of the "MT. Slesse" trailer park with no
success and witnessed no other fish strikes for the handful of other anglers. Stopped at "Fred's" in Sardis to stock up on roe sacs and got the report that the Lickman road area had seen a lot of success (20 steelies reported, and 6 weighed in) before lunch. Headed there forthwith ( or was it fifthwith ?) and tried below the parking lot then went to an inviting looking area north along the dyke road and just before the rail Xing... Left around 3 with an empty creel. Should have fished the early shift! Bl

A beautiful clear, cool day on the Chehalis produced a couple of semi-spent Coho, and a couple of mouldy ones, no Steelhead or Cutts. I was targetting the Cutts with my 6 wt. fly rod using a peach yarn and small glo-bug fly, fishing downstream from the Hatchery. The hatchery zone was quite crowded, but a 200 meter walk downstream provided relatively quiet runs and pools with maybe one or two other guys passing once an hour. One guy says he got a wild Steelhead in the run just in front of the campsite on the NW side of the bridge just before the canyon, didn't see anyone else catch anything while I went by. The Cutts are smart, they are all stacked up in the hatchery channel along with a few Steelhead and some ripening Coho, kind of neat to see. Lots of Eagles, Herons, Goldeneye, and Gulls, a real nature walk. Cheers.

Went to the veddar about 3 days ago (the 25th), did some fishing all over the river, tryed many spots like i haven't in the past, but I noticed that the allison pool (i think thats what it is called) was very productive (its the spot where you park your car in campsites between slesse creek and the bridge that crosses the river). I lost one, and I saw a guy nail 2 steelies there all in the afternoon around 12-3. Pink/white glowing corkies with a little bit of peach wool appear to be working with about a 2-3 foot leader with a descent sized test (10-12, with 15 pound mainline). The water appeared to be calm but steady in some places at the spot i was at, and it appears to be the best way to let your corkie set so the fish get the most amount of time to see it if they are there. The best spots I feel are where it is narrow, and not too deep and very clear, as this forces the fish to swim in a very cramped enviroment and this helps you cover the river the most effectively with your setups. The wider and deeper the river, the harder it is on you, make it easy on yourself. pull out your polarized sunglasses and look for them too! the shades aren't just to look.

Rainbow up to 24 lbs, caught on large beak bill normans and water dogs. Blacks, purples and blues. Long thin polar bear flies, which are tied by Mike at Split-Shot. Try green, blues, black and red, on surface at 1.8 to 2.2 miles an hour. Dolly Varden to 19 lbs on waterdogs with 100 yards of line out and your lure will run 20-25 feet deep.

The Cowichan still has high water conditions and water clearity is in the milty stage. The upper river(Skutz Fallls to 70.2 mile bridge) area is the only fishable part of the river. Drift boaters have had succes at the heads of most deep pools using orange gooeys and orange/ red corkies with alittle white wool on them. The river has not yet had a few days without rain. March will be the month for fly fishing the steelies. Try dark patterns at first then when the water slows down, lowers, and clears try eggs and stoneflies. Tight lines

Been out a couple of times on the chuck the last 2 weeks. At sydney channel we were fishing 10 feet of bottom with a 4 inch chartreuse and pearl coyote spoon with a glow army truck flasher, and a green glow anchovie special with a glow flasher. The coyote picked up a half dozen 1/2" to small springs and the anchovie took one 10lbs spring. At the Victoria waterfront we had the same kind of luck with the coyote spoon at 90 feet and the anchovie at 120 to 180. Also had good success with a clover leaf hootchie. The 10lbs spring had a 7" herring in its stomach whole.

I found the following on the Steelheader page regarding the Vedder: In these conditions many anglers seek steelhead in the upper reaches of the river - above the Slesse slides. Hatchery personnel are now adipose clipping ‘97 coho brood stocks to be released in May. When released these smolts are typically 20 grams in size. This spring 1.8 million white chinook smolts will be released as well as 450,000 red chinook and 130,000 steelhead smolts. It looks likely to be a good spring freshet adding good conditions for the releaseof these smolts. Above the Slesse slides? I don't understand. I thought the fishing boundary on the Chilliwack river was at Slesse Creek? What do they mean when they say "good spring freshet"?

Since the Cowichan is still a blow out, I decided to try Koksilah River. High water and steep river banks make this river hard to navigate into. However, the river is somewhat clear. Fished below provincial campsite and caught an Atlantic salmon! Those dam fish farms. The water is still too fast for flyfishing but okay for bait casting. My recommendation is to plan for the Cowichan and leave this river for the Chinook and Coho season only. On the Island things are pretty slow in the rivers except the Stamp, do to bad storms and lots of rain. Tightlines everyone.

Fished the Vedder this morning along the clay banks, we pounded it hard all morning, without a touch. The water was real nice though, I saw one being weighed in at Fred's that the guy got from the bottom end, but it seemed to be a slow day from what I could gather.

Went and fished the derby on the vedde river on sunday. it was a classic day for winter steelheading. If you were out there you would know it was snowing pretty hard! ok heres my storey. after geting picked up about 25 min late me and my fishing partner made our plans of were we were going to go. we got to fred's tackle around 7:30 am. after picking up our cards we went to go start the car. CATHUNK went the engien when it turned over. as it turned out the battery was dead. after trying to push start it we were asked by a man in a ford diesel after geting are car going and thanking the man in the truck we went to go find a battery. after looking just about every were we fund a place about 5 min from luckman road."we are on are way" i said to my self. we were going down to luckman road. getting covered with that wet snow while puting on our waders we were fishing. after catching a rock and roleing a steelhead {no amount of casting could get it to come back}. we decided to go to up river after seeing bolder run by the bridge we decided to go up more to alice pool. after fishing with roe bags and hooking another fish i switched over to this new rubber lure i invented {witch i call the gooy goast}. hooked another fish in that pool that drops out of that minne canyon i skipped the next pool to fish the one were the side channle comes out. after talking to a man who just landed a nice steelhead i began fishing with my " prototype " lure. on my first cast i hooked a wild buck steelhead that every on estimated at 16 - 18lbs.after taking a few pictures i relesed it.i went down river to the set of pools by the clay banks and catching another wild steelhead of about 12 - 14lbs that was bullet crome{ my first one was a little colored} we departed from the vedder to chihalis river. we went in to fish the hatchery pool. on my therd cast i hooked a cutty of about 4 - 5lbs. and loseing it we went down river and managed to land a few old coho and a brite 12lb 6oz. hatchery buck steelhead witch I kept. all in all it was a good day for me my.partner managed to scwander a gooy goast out of me and got a nice 8-10lb. wild steelhead chihalis steelhead. all in all it was a good day for my gooey goast. it semses to catch a lot of fish.big or small if you want any infermation about my gooey goast e - mail me at matthewbentley@home.com thanks and tight lines Matthew

Oh and by the way, I nailed my fish on a pink/white glowing corkie with a little bit of peach wool. I think corkies right now are the most productive, I'm not saying that b/c i caught one fish on them today, but also b/c everyone i have seen catch fish has nailed them on corkies. Worms dont seem to be working as well. And by the way, the veddar was crystal clear today. I had my polarized glasses on and could see everything. The water level is also a lot lower then it was before. Its back to late autumn levels of last year.Tight lines people.

Fished the veddar today, just got home and took off my waders about 5 minutes ago, anyways, great day in general. Fished about a Km down from the hatchery, (fort apache, is that right, the spot where everyone is packed tightly near that pool??) Anyways, I fished a bit up from that spot, found this great spot where the steelhead like to sit, and I saw too older guys there and I asked how they did, and they said they caught 7 steelies total. They left a while later, and me and my buddy took their spots, and I nailed a 6 pound hatchery buck, and my buddy had about a 10-12 pound on one on but lost it. My other buddy who fished downstream a bit more nailed a 10 pounder. hatchery doe as well. We both let them go, I have no reason to keep a steelhead, I dont eat fish nor do I know how to cook it well. But people were slaying them all day today. People, bait casters, esp, take advantage of the next few days on the veddar, b/c as of april, only fly fishing is allowed on the veddar until red spring season, and fly fishing isn't exactly as good as baitcasting gear on the veddar for steelhead. Oh, and I also went to lickman road earlier in the morning, saw a bunch of people there, but nothing was happening, thats why I moved. I think last weeks lickman fest all moved up stream. Anyways, tight lines.

Fished the Chwk last Friday. Started up near Ft. Apache about 12:30, a few other guys there. Used a pink worm for awhile thru a run...nuthin. Switched to jensen egg and wool, 1st cast hit about a 12# hatch doe! landed and fished some, more, moved downstream for a bit, came back to the spot, 3rd cast, into another, about a 14# hatch doe!! What a great day! 2 hatchery does in less than on hour! My buddy wasn't as lucky tho. Saw sun, rain, snow, sun...nice day on the river, weather didn't matter at all! The first one still had lice on her. Tight lines everyone!

Howdy-doo! Lots of steelhead being caught below Scutz Falls. The water is starting to clear up. Use big bright lures such as Spin-n-Glows or bait(roe). Fly fishing for bows and browns is doing very well.

hey all, just wondering if anyone has any reports on the veddar, I'm gonna head up there within the next week either this next tuesday or next friday and i'm just wondering how the fishing is, I hear the fishing is HUGE right now for steelhead, and I'm interested in where people feel the all time best spot is on the veddar. See, from my experience, I feel the best spot is alice/alison pool, I like it cuz its fairly well known, but not too packed, and its also very very clear, and shallow and packed, which makes the fish easy to nail if they are there, but I hear right now the best spot is lickman road, because thats where the steelhead tend to spawn right now. I know the run peeks around now, but then I have a friend saying that the lickman road area is just packed and shallow, and that if you want to watch your float go put put put down the river, then its pointless in going. I've alwasy known that steelhead like to sit in  fast water..not slow water, unless lickman road realy is hwere they spawn, any second opinions as to where everyone feels the best spot on the veddar is right now?? Just wondering, sorry for the paragraph essay, but strategy in fishing is just as important as the fish itself. Thanks, tight lines.

Unfortunately the road is still covered in snow pack 3ft deep. As a side note, Davis Lake is used by the local party animals and as a result not very peaceful or clean. Tight lines and Good luck!!

Steely I see you found one of the productive areas on the Vedder.Other areas are the Limit hole up stream {just below hatchery}, Alison pools and Fort Apache. As for lures well I tell ya pink {bubble gum} wool by it's self or blended {white peach etc.} is a producer. Scott, as for "second hand reports", I've been there when my friends have been doing the chatching.

Went to the Vedder today from 8 am to 3pm. I fished from Bergman Road through Lickman Road down to the Railway bridge. All together, I saw at least 25 fish hooked, 4 hatchery taken. I hooked 2 wild ones (12 and 16 pounders). One bright silver doe and one rainbow coloured buck. Both caught on roe. Water level was excellent. Visibility around 1.5 to 2 feet. Give it a shot, it's worth it!!!

Super Fly, I have fished Gold Creek quite a bit and I find that it is really good in late may, june and early to mid july. After that it does not seem to produce a whole lot for me as the dreaded squaw (spelling?) fish enters the now warm waters. Fish tend to be in the 8-15 inch range: cuts and bows. You can't keep anything there of course except on the off chance that it is a hatchery fish. However, the mouth of Gold Creek can be really nice at times in the summer provided that it is not over-run with irresponsible campers who litter their garbage and dirty diapers all over the park and bait fishermen who don't have the presence of mind to clean up their beer-cans and styrofoam worm containers. A message to worm-users: don't leave your worm container at the lake and remember that it does not go away if you hide it (and your empty Doritos bag) under rocks. Sorry, got side-tracked on a tyrade against irresponsible selfish fishermen. Good Luck Dan

My buddy and I took the kids to the 'gravel piles' upstream of the Vedder Campground. Fished an area upstream of where we had success in Nov, with the BIG springs. The flooding of the river in Dec and Jan. had altered the flows and we found a great (looking) tailout with fairly clear water. Unfortunately, looks are deceiving and after 4 hours, we gave up. Tried again below Keith Wilson bridge but low water levels ( and antsy kids) made us head for home early. Bl

I flew over it the other day and saw a few people in belly boats and I'm wanting to check it out myself but if the fishing is no good I wont bother. Also Gold creek off of alouette lake I herd of some good Cutthroat in there but my source is not very reliable. I was in Fred's Tackle in Chilliwack the other day and noticed a bag containing the stomach contents of a Steelhead. It had some plastic worms, gooey bobs and single Jensen eggs. My question is this. How would the fish ever digest or excrete this. Do these baits end up remaining in their stomach or are they made of a materials that break down? It seems like these baits are very detremental to the health of the fish if they do not break down, and I would imagine rather difficult to excrete.

I went to Bear lake for an hour or so, but on a nymph and a Metric spinner, I did'nt get one bite. On my way home, I stopped at Mayo lake and cast a worm into the murky water. The trout were rising but I could'nt get a bite. I put on a small pink Panther-Martin and got bites on each of my first 3 casts. On the fourth cast, I landed a plump 10-inch rainbow. It took a while, but i finally got my first trout of 1999.

People, I went through the periodicals at my college today, and I was going through the outdoor canada's hot spots of 98 and they said that the seymour was actually a hotspot, the seymour river??? they say huge amounts of salmon come through it each year along with a lot of cutthroat and a lot of steelhead, cna anyone confirm this? I find this hard to believe with how shallow the river can become at some times, but I would believe it if you told me a lot of chum went up it. anyways, laters peoples, I'm going to the capilano on saturday around noon, I'm gonna park at the hatchery and walk my way down..good luck ppl..tight lines.

Fished Elk lake this mourning from 9:30 to 11:30. It was pretty slow but i managed to hook one silver rainbow of 16 inches on a #10 black wooly bugger. Was using a type 2 uniform sink line down to a 3 lbs tippet. There was quite a large amount of midges coming off the water. The chironomids ran from a size 8 to a 12 in black and olive. No luck with any of my patterns. The lake also seems to be starting to turn over. Pretty cold for the feet still in a float tube.

Hi me again on saturday i fished the fraser river hoping to get out for some cutthroat so we got there at 12:30pm and started fishing at herrling island i saw the surface about 8-10 feet out kind of splashing verry light so i suspected it was a fish. So i put on a weighted minnow pattern and took a few casts and nothing so i walked down a wase and so nothing then to get even worse the wind picked up and i took another cast and the fly hit me in the back of my head as it did for about 4 other times in the day so we saw no action or anything accept dirtbikers so we went to some backwaters and the only fish we saw were little stickelbacks so we got in the car and went to gill road we saw like 2 other fisermen who said they saw someone catch a wild cutty on a black wooly bugger with a gold bead head. so we fished for a while and it was getting even windyer so the day started to really get my hopes down with not a thing to be seen or caught so we left the fraser and decided to go to jones lake so we start heading up the road and we hit the snow level and we where in a little hundia pony and we get to far up the road and get stuck in the snow so we finaly get it loose and head down to hope hoping to do a bit of fishing on the coquhialla river so 30 minutes and we get to the river and it says the river was closed so we are getting very mad so we decided to go to a local lake so we decided to go to kawkawa so we get there and i see tons of chironomids on the surface so i put one on and cast and nothing happens so i talk to some trollers and they said they had a few nibbels but nothing in a typical troller but they said that the day before the caught a few nice kokanee on a blue jig i didnt get the name of it but it had a silver belly and a blue body and a small weight head so i try for a half an hour and nothing so my hopes were lost oh well i cant wait till the second week of april to go out to this lake in merrit on the ice off and throw a few chironomids out there ok bye. and TIGHT LINES

Fished the Stave and Morris Lake today. Hooked and lost one fish on a bloodworm in the lake, but that was it. Saw one other fish caught all day. Got some great casting practice in. It was quite sunny, while that probably hurt the fishing at least it was nice for a change. The Stave was the lowest I've seen it, even last summer.

Spent the better part of Sunday the 7th. of March exploring the lower reaches of the Chehalis (note to Matthew- it's spelled Chehalis, just like the road signs and the maps) and while I was carrying on the appearance of fly-fishing for steelhead, what I was actually doing was a lot of casting practice. The water is very low, about a foot or more lower than when I was there about three weeks ago. Water temperature at 0730 was 38F and it warmed up to about 39.5F by 1400 (that's 2PM). The low, clear water combined with the relatively bright conditions today likely kept any fish that were there tucked under cover and tight to logjams (at least that's what I've convinced myself of). I saw a few other fisherpeople drifting their gooey-bobs through some likely looking runs and I didn't see anyone else get a fish, not even a Cutt. Down at the open Harrison end of the river I spotted a few 1 inch long chum fry wriggling along the edges of some side channels so there ought to be some cutts coming up anytime now. Didn't see any other fry along the river up to the Hatchery run. Lots of Mergansers, Goldeneyes and a few American Dippers along the faster stretches. Had an Osprey circle over me at low altitude, probably saw the quality beef jerky hanging out of the side of my mouth, because I sure didn't have any fish. Cheers.

I was out on saterday with Peter from fred's tackle.. Went out on the river about 12:30 pm [after class] fished about 1 km above the crossing started in the main river after fishing there for about 25 min peter sugested that i go fish i side channel well he accplans a few things to some of the other a spireing fisherman in my class.. well i go down start fishing a small seam after working my down it a few times i said one more cast because its not great holding water my float goes about 6 or 7 feet and very slowly goes under. thinking it's a snage i gently try to free it only to have my great kindof move and watch a nice 9 or so lb steelhead spit my gear at me!! after casting there about another 5 times and changeing gear my float does the same on to catch the infomas rock fish! working my way down the water and coming to were a nice little side channel pool.. flip my float to the head of the run and it trots the same ownly to have my float riped down like a torpedo set the hook after 10 seconds of head shakeing and one nice role to the surface. you guessed it my knot to my swivel desides to let go!! me 0 fish 2 while retying my rig the rest of the "clan" come down to see whats going on they fish for a min. peter says 5 casts. first cast his float went about 10 max.. POW hes in to a nice 5 lb buck witch he hands off to one of my class mates. after a breff battle we land the fish [ i tailed it.] so fish for a while we disied to go down to blood beach not a soul to be fond!! we cross and they move to the main channel and i stick to my side channel.. after fishing a few jiggles in my float i move to the next side channel pool. again one set that i thought was a rock again turned out to be a steelhead.Geting qureus about my bad luck i go and fish the rest of the clan first cast sange = brack off. after no one else toching any thing we move to the camp ground after fishing for about 30 min we call it a day with the rock fish claming another one of my hooks.. me 0 fish 3 for th rest of the group one nice 5 lb buck and a white fish and a few stick fish.. all in all a good learning expereance. SET THE HOOK AT ANY THING THAT LOOKS WERED!!!!
