Fished today and the water is crystal clear and low. There is the odd chum in the river but they are all but gone. Lots of colored coho, ranging from crimson sided to boot black and thankfully some clean coho and clean jacks. Mainly in the smaller pools and holding water near the tree lined shores. Yes long, light leaders are the norm and I landed fish on small row bags, single jensen eggs and small pink/peach wool ties. Apart from some nice weather, nice fish and bearable crowds, some people insist on killing fish well past their prime. When is it enough guys.

Started in Canyon first light yesterday at the Chehalis. Hit some darkees and lost a bullet chrome 5lb. ho. Lots of people in the Canyon. Went down by the hatchery and beached a nice 10lb. doe ho. Absolutley no chum in the river. Hit some more darkees then moved to norrish. Water on the Chehalis was up a bit and tea coloured. Norrish was rising. Hit a couple of jacks on a sliver of pink wool. Hit two nice cutts around 12inches. From what I saw today thingsa re starting to wind down in terms of ho fishing. Oh well tired of them anyway, bring on the steelys!

Hit the Coquitlam today from 2 till dark. Fished mid river using a mickey finn and had a bit of action. River was low and chystal clear. Hit 3 cutts and manage to get a nice 4lb. male to the beach. Things are prety slow in terms of salmon as the chum are basically dead and the coho arent really coming in as the river is dead low. But I will be there this weekend as we are supposed to get some rain.

Fished a bit today, very cold, brrr... Bar fished for dolly but didn't catch any, so this is about it folks for bar fishing in the Lower Fraser. A few days ago my friend caught a chum in the South Arm of Fraser at the bars near No. 6 Road in Richmond, using roe. People are still catching Pacific Tomcod near the River Mouth. These are best to be caught by worms, squid, fish flesh. NOTE: 8 fish per day! Squamish River was doing not bad in mid week, some fresh chums were caught, and the odd large silver cohos were sighted. No retention for cohos though. Anyway, good luck all.

Hehehe... Well, I don't have any encounters with language problems but I did fish at the Stave today. Fished from noon til sundown. All of the chums are dark now, very very old, only a few peopole were fishing today. I did see the odd cutthroats rising though, both in the big pool at the boat ramp and further downstream. Water was very low and the "fast" section has a very slow flow.

Was out on 14th. Water was VERY low, and VERY clear. Coho sitting at bottom of pool, and were moving out of the way for EVERYTHING that passed by them. Wow! went with geoff on sat, lot's of coho caught on peach wool. We were sight fishing the coho so managed to avoid the chum's.. most of the time. The water is clear so we had to really keep low not to spook them. Some european's showed up and began casting with big hunk's of pencil lead under thier float's, big splashes every cast. Totally freaked out the coho in that pool. Guy's if you're reading this, you don't need lot's of weight in slow moving pool's. And you'll catch more fish too.

Oh, I beg to differ with you there Billy Baitchucker. I have fished the Chehalis 5 times in the last 2 weeks with my fly rod using various minnow patterns and I have had quite good success. The trick is locating the fish first, then proper presentation. Slow water works best with minnow patterns. So, NO roe is not the only way to catch these fish. Before y'all go out slaying salmon for their embryo's, give the alternatives a try, and save a few fetuses in the process.....After all this is supposed to be sport fishing isn't it!

well guys ive been fishing the Chehalis for sevrel weeks now and have yet to get skunked I have never in my life caught so many fish. It has been a hey day out there. Water is medium height and colour is tea. If you want to catch these crome bullets you have to use roe. I have tried all kinds of colours and double red has been the ticket for me. The roe must be loose or not to hard as these fish will hit it very soft and fast and then off they go. I have been told that dog roe is best but I have been using coho and white spring roe. Eveyone is right though the amount of coho is down now and are starting to colour up. The dogs are getting plentiful. Good luck out there all. This year will go into my all time record books.............

Fished the Stave River between 7am til 12pm today. Most of the chums are very old now. The Inch Creek Hatchery were out doing coho capturing, only around 4 cohos were caught. Even though most of the fish are old, there are still quite a few fresh fish right now! I fished with both float and spoons. Most of the fish I caught on the float in the fast water were actually old fish. However, when fished with a croc spoon (3/8 ounce, green), I hooked several very fresh fish. One female I kept was almost silver, covered with sealice. There were no one fishing today, I practically had the river to myself, then people started to show up around 10pm. River is very low, especially during low tide.

No fish were caught, no fish were sighted, saw three seals swimming around. Then moved further down the Squamish River for some sightseeing and did see some chums jumping there. After the moved onto the Cheakamus River, lots of chums were caught, however, all were very very old, not worth targeting if you are planning to keep clean fish. Water was very low, good clarity. I was a little surprised at what happened on Boxing Day. Thirteen weighed in, the largest 15.9 lbs. Fish were hooked up and down the river. Lots of wild steelies hooked and released or lost. My buddy was into 6 fish in the upper river!!!! (landed two wild, lost the others). I was lower down and hooked and landed a 14 lb wild. Saw three other wild hooked and released and one hatchery taken, all out of one run! Heard of fish caught at Peach, Lickman, behind On-the-way and at the Ranger and Picnic table runs. The fish are there but you have to find 'em. I was surprised to see that one of the fish weighed in at the derby was coloured and leaking milt. I mean really leaking. Surprised because I thought they wouldn't be ready to spawn until April-May. Also heard of a 22 lb hatchery fish weighed in at On-the-Way store this week. Some big fish out there. Also lots of Dolly's showing up. Saw one school of three to four fish at the Ranger run on Thursday, all Dolly's. Hooked two of them (4 and 6 lb). G'luck to all! And have a great New Year Parteeeeee!

Still Plenty of Clean Coho to be had. I hit a fresh as a nickel winter run steelhead on a hot pink cheater corky. Must have been an early oddball. Nice fish, nice day, big smiles.

Haven't fished there in a while, but have heard from friends that many large rainbows have been caught there recently ranging from 5-7 pounds along with many fish in the 1.5-2 pound range! The 7 lb'er was caught in a boat in the middle of the lake using a gang troll while many of the smaller fish are being caught from shore using powereggs, spinners, or worms. Good luck to all of you! Merry Christmas.

Fished Norrish Creek on Wednesday. Lot's and lots of Coho. About 30% of them are still really clean and keepable. However, the water was really low and clear and we could not entice any to bite. Neither could the other half dozen anglers we saw. Lot's of dirty 'hos on the Chehalis. Water is really, really low and the fish ar concentrating in thick schools. No keepers but had lots of fun. Lot's of big, cherry-red northerns up to 15-18 lbs in there (where were they during the early part of the season?) Went to the Vedder in the afternoon. Could wade across the river at the Vedder crossing bridge it is that low. Went down to Bergman and could spit across the river. Heard of only one steelie being hooked in the last week (a 15 lb wild buck). Doesn't look too promising for Boxing Day unless we get some rain and the predicted rainfall for this weekend has been called off. Bummer!

steeler2000, I have heard reports of steelhead throughout the system, but concentrated around the crossing. Granted these fish are still few in numbers, they are there if you can find them. I, myself, haven't yet coaxed any to take a fly.

Fished the Vedder on Tuesday. Water still quite low but has a fair amount of colour to it. Caught a large ugly dog on the lower half and semi-crome coho around the middle.(on a pink worm yet)It was around eight pounds and wild. This river looks like it may have a long way to go before we'll see any steelhead. Does anyone out there have the web sight address with the water level report for the Vedder on it. Thanks way to go before

been up there on saturday morning, the worst weather condition I've experienced this year. Only 5 people seen on the river. Saw some colored up coho, no sign of steelhead, should have gone to the vedder instead.

Well, I haven't seen a Vedder reprt for a while, so here goes. I was there yesterday morning, fished at Borden Creek, Tamihi, and Peach rd, and didn't get a sniff. The water was pretty low, clear up at Borden, and about 3 ft of vis down lower. Didn't see any one else have any better luck either.

Very cold and clear up here in gods country. We had to bar fish for STEELHEAD, on this awesome sand bar. The fish were there as they feasted on the fresh coho roe. We had on a couple, but setting the hook is a little tough with the 6oz weight. I will be doing some extreme steelheading this weekend, with an expert from the Kitimat area, and we will be trying these new beauty flies, cheers.

Went out on Saturday. Shipping lanes-point grey Lots of shakers. 1 good size fish but lost it. Fair amount of bait around the 135 foot bottom contour. For seals buy a sling shot. Cost $18. You won't hit any seals but a steel pellet hitting the water within 5 feet spookes them away for quite a while. You get a range of about 150 yards which is about right when they are trolling behind your boat.

this dates back to Dec. 2, me and my buddy caught a dozen or so coho, about 6 cromers using spinners on floats and roe on floats. To all you guys using long leaders and dragging n snagging coho on the backs over and over again and dragging them up on the beach over the rocks, you will be dealt with severely next time. Fish legally or stay home!

Fished the Chehalis on Sunday. Bonked four real nice dime-bright 'hos. Hooked at least twenty others (not so bright). My partner was slamming too fish using roe sacks. He hit something big that took him downstream for quite a ways before losing it in a log jam. Never did see what it was but we heard rumours of some winter steelhead being weighed in at the Errock Lake store. All in all a good day.
