Spent mid-morning to early afternoon in the canyon. Lots of chums, still quite a few coho, but most of them are getting dark. Landed and releaed a decent wild one and a dark hatchery. That's it for the coho season for me this year.

Report Number:9299
Name:Teeoh
Lake or River:Chehalis
Date:17-Nov-2004
Comments:
Fished near the pumping station on Tues.. River level was great and water a nice tea colour. Still numbers of coho moving through, although most were getting slightly tinged or morphing to a crimson hue. We saw two chromers taken, in four hours fishing. Many others, in various states of sunburnt colour, fought, lost, and beached, and generally had a fun day. It's a great time to take a yong lad to get him hooked on our favourite pastime. One curious thought spawned, (get it?), by the sight across the river. Why do anglers or beeksters bonk chums and stuff them into their non see through bags to take home? Do they dig them into the garden for fertilizer,,,feed them to the cat? Do they actually smoke them for personal consumption? ( Like Rivahman says, "a boot goes in, a boot comes out"). Just wondering.

Hit dewdney this morning with the old faithful flyrod and chucked my coho special for 2 hours or so and hooked only one fish which is OK when it's a 7lb chrome hatchery doe-ho. I did not see any body else hook a thing except for some kid yanking booted up chum dorsals and buts. I'll take the coho.

Lake or River:Lower Fraser
Date:13-Nov-2004
Comments:
Was out Thursday afternoon and Friday early morning with buddy chevy. Absoulutely nothing out there except sunshine. Chevy brought in a nice jack about three pounds Friday morning and released it. I think thats it for this year on the mighty fraser, will have to put my efforts in on steelies and perhaps winter spring feeders on the chuck until next spring. With the NHL gone as well, it is a sad reality. Over and out.

First guys on the river... As per usual. Very depressing. Valient effort. Zero results. Graveyard to Fraser and many points inbetween, possibly one silver sighting. Congradulations to the father/son team, lower end in their 80 G jet boat on their chum, darker then our boat ride earlier that morning. Perhaps a fertilizer fishery. Could it be over. As of 1 p.m. we called it a season. Rods, tackle, boat, motor, trailer..everything must go. Bidding on SeaBay......

Lake or River:South Arm Fraser
Date:07-Nov-2004
Comments:
Fishin; if you are looking for a place where salmon bite, the Steveston box or wall is mainly for snagging. Very popular for sockeye. The fish get trapped up against the planks and pilings. You need a small boat, lots of lead and big hooks. park at the boat launch just east of Shady Island and zip over. Look for the boats. This morning there were only 3 or 4 boat trailers there.

Fishin- Well thats good to hear your gunan get out there. Yes it is quite busy on weekends will all the regulars of course and others. And I dont loose too much gear there, you just need to know were the snags are and there are only 3 so ask anyone there and you should be good and dont cast too close to the wall or you will be in trouble. FM 2000, I am targeting any salmon that will bite my line. I just want to fight a fish on. how is it that you seem to have success every time out? I am bar fishing with roe, no roe bag, with my rig 3 inches from my weight. Where in Steveston are you fishing? It isn't the back side of the island is it? I wouldn't mind heading over that way to give it a toss.

Fished Lower Fraser for about 3 hours yesterday and 9 chums between 4 of us and one 6 pound coho. "Fishin" - what are you targeting? I know the last few days down here has been slow but there is apparently one more large run of chums that will be comming through, Im sure with all those chums there will plenty of coho. I wouldnt pack it in for the season quite yet. If I have any more info I will be sure to post it as I get it. Take care ! FM2000

Well, fished the lower fraser south arm off annacis all day yesterday from 9 am to 4 pm. Saw a few coho jumping, sea lice I guess, and had only small nibbles all day. Buddy caught a small jack, 2 to 3 pounds but thats it. Man is it ever slow this year down here. FM 2000, do you think the season is wrapping up or are we in for a run still? Wondering if I should pack up for the year.

Low and clear, tons of dogs, the odd ho, beaks and snaggers galore, hooking the white springs in the ass and side, killing them and then crowing about their skills. Hooked two hos, (the only ones from dawn until 11 that I saw) and killed one, saw no others hooked.

Lake or River:Coho Fly
Date:03-Nov-2004
Comments:
I do not fish the lower fraser, that is below Stave river. I mostly flyfish in clear water from the stave to harrison and use weighted buggers and muddlers in various colors such as olive and gold/brown. Fast retrieves do work well but when they're there and not biting fast then go slow and steady and WHAM! Quite often I get hits as my fly sinks too. Cheers.

Hey FM and others, I have been chucking flies at Ho's and doing really well. The last few trips have yielded up to 10 coho per trip. Shallow water about 3-5 feet deep and away from the main current seem to be the trick. And yeah, I have been hitting some very nice chum does on the coho flies. The chums are thick but I see quite a few coho out there too. The bite does come on big and then it's off big too. Cheers to all.

Lake or River:HOHO
Date:02-Nov-2004
Comments:
All the Ho's we've caught this year have been on either small roe presentations or spinners. The spinners have been mainly polished copper colorado. And like FM2000 says, the bite seems to be very on and off. If you see dogs or springs, most likely you won't see ho's.

Fishin, Yea you do see them finning rite off the beaches which is crazy. There is just so many. The one ho ho i got this year was a beauty just over 11 pounds and silver as could be. But so far were I fish and im out 5 days a week ive seen 1 other ho ho caught. And im right at the mouth of the fraser, so were getting first crack at them but what can I say hard to come by. But all in all I enjoy being out on the water and evem if its just dogs im catching im still having fun and too me thats all that matters. But hopfully in the next week or so I will be getting into a few more ho ho's cuz there a blast to have on the end of your line. Take care! FM2000

FM 2000, no kiddung. Every time out see schools of em finning, jumping and swimming literally feet away from the beach. Do you think the ho's wil come more readally once the dogs have gone up? Heard of a guy last week who had a 10 pound ho on a blue fox lure, wasn't sure of the colour scheme though. Seems first light is best as well. I think I will try for dogs on the float next time out. By the way, coho fishing has been fair on the Harrison for a month all ready. The water is so low again, many fish won't go to the Chehalis,yet....The heavy rains today will fix that little problem. I have been tossing mepps 3 chrome or gold #3 blue fox away from the dogs and springs. Hook at least one fish every time out.Good Luck to all on the rods.

Date:01-Nov-2004
Comments:
The water level was good Sunday morning. With the rain today, it will be a mess for at least 24 hours. Probably 100 guys there Sunday. I saw at least 5 clean coho taken. Hooked a pair myself but they thought it better to stay in the river. You can avoid the zoo at the hatchery channel by going for a short walk and getting to the fish first. Good luck.
