Date:31-Oct-2005
Comments:
The folks from the hatchery have been netting the toilet bowl frequently. I never thought there were so many springs in the stave. They bring back there fish and slice them in half with a huge knife before tossing them in the water. I guess they do this to add nutrients to the water. I think that answers your question.

Date:28-Oct-2005
Comments:
WOW, what a great day to be on the fraser river. Went down to Bowmans bar. Tossing blue and white wool was amazing. Took my bro in law down to bowmans today hoping to get some coho and springs. It was rather slow bar fishing with us getting a handful of chums each. Then tossed on the bouncing rigs with blue AND white wool and couldnt keep the coho off the hook. Landed 7, 5 hatchery, 2 wilds between the 2 of us. Tried different colours of wool but undoubtly this was the best combo. Last cast of the day whammo hooked into a spring like 50lbs that was probably going back to the harrison. SNAP, broke my 15lbs like butter. Bowmans bar the place to be!!!!

Lake or River:Spring Jacks
Date:10-Oct-2005
Comments:
Spring jacks are not harmful to any stock - they are a natural part of a lot of salmond species. Natures insurance to ensure there are enough males (and to some extent females - the odd Jill too) around to fertilize any females on the redds. Jacks are also a good indicator of how next years run should be like. In this case because we have had a pretty good jack run this year it looks like next years adult chinook runs might be better than they were this year. Food for thought.
